Pick me........

Hello Sweet-pea!!!

Many of you commented on the truly magnificent glass-house when we bought St Biddies, and I have to say it was one of the very big ticks on the wish list for a new home. I do think it was a big factor in making this our new home here. We are slowly giving it a wee clean up, I am sure there are spiders in here that have been living in the glasshouse since it was built. Eeeekkk.
I just love the smell and that heavy dewey air that wraps around you when you walk in and look what this little hot-house is producing........beautiful red ripe tomatoes!!!!
I just love tomatoes and it makes me so very sad that they do not love me, I get quite sick when I have them, so I am going to have to make something out of them which will make a great gift.

Now just so you don't think I put on a dress to match the glass-house to pick tomatoes, we went into town today to get a few groceries and some bits for the market on Sunday.
I am so excited, because of the big space in the house I have the whole stall set up as a practice, it was funny getting up this morning and seeing all the treasure waiting patiently for a new home on the mock stall.

The most happy thing happened in the supermarket, this lovely old gentleman came up to me and said......"Excuse me lady you look so very pretty in that dress", oh what a very kind gentleman, I was pretty chuffed.

love V

  1. Oh you do look lovely and the gentleman was so sweet to tell you. There is just not enough of that kind of nicety in the world. Oh the mock stall sounds wonderful. I remember when I was a little girl my sister and I used to play at shops and our shop sold scarves and jewellry and things that our Nana had given us. The glasshouse is HUGE - will your grow flowers as well as tomatoes?

That glass house is so pretty, but YOU are a vision dear V! I'm so glad that gentleman complimented you too. I'm sure just the sight of you makes people smile on the inside. Such a pretty frock & I love it with the cardi. Just perfect for picking ripe tomatoes. Xx

  4. You DO look very pretty in that dress, that gentleman has impeccable taste!
The greenhouse was what got me so excited about St Biddies, too! It reminds me of the hothouse Krista and I visited at National Trust property Wightwick Manor back in September.
I love growing tomatoes but the summer's have been cruel recently so my crops have been very disappointing! xxx

Fantastic dress, and I'm very jealous of your tomatoes (though sorry for you that they make you sick). I bet you'll be able to grow all kinds of gorgeous vegetables in that greenhouse!

  11. Oh come on, Vanessa, admit it - you DID choose the frock to match those enormous tomatoes, didn't you?! What a shame you can't eat them, they look fabulous! I foresee homemade ketchup or soup or pasta sauces being given to friends - or even sold, as a sideline to your vintage treasures?
I am not in the least surprised you fell for that amazing greenhouse, it is just one more feature of St. Biddies which makes it special. And I am also not surprised the old gentleman complimented you - you look absolutely beautiful! xxxx

He was right you do look lovely, plus you've got such a darling smiley face! I love St Biddies already and it's such a shame you can't have a tomato feast, but soon you'll be growing other things you can eat in your very own glass house, you flippin' lucky are you? xxx
